A Mayfield Kentucky Wedding

It’s a weird feeling – going most of the year without having a weekend off due to shooting weddings every Saturday, then going three whole Saturdays without a wedding, AND THEN shooting a wedding near the end of November. The night before Taylor & Josh’s wedding this past Saturday was a sleepless night for me. Mostly because of being 22 weeks pregnant but also because of the crazy wedding photographer dreams that every wedding photographer has once in a while. (One day I’ll have to blog about those crazy dreams!) Layer that on top of the reasons I mentioned at the beginning of this post… it made for a pretty pressure filled morning for me as I drove to Mayfield Kentucky for my second to last wedding of 2014.

But then I arrived at Trace Creek Baptist Church and was promptly greeted by Taylor’s momma Jill, who was also playing coordinator for the day, and all my worries faded away. She had all the bridal details I asked for waiting for me in a box so I was able to start right in – after I hugged the bride, that is!

Josh gave Taylor a beautiful three diamond ring as her engagement ring but soon after, her family gave her her grandmother’s rings, which she chose to save as her wedding bands. So gorgeous!

During the pre-wedding consultation, I always ask my brides if they’d like a First Look with their girls, and then with their dad. Taylor was all for both so her momma helped get her into her dress, which made for some lovely sweet moments!

Then it was time to see daddy! Taylor warned me that he would cry so I was slightly disappointed when he didn’t ball like a baby. I hear that’s not manly, but whatever! I love seeing a dad have a good cry over the sight of his beautiful daughter just as she turns into a bride!

The First Look with Taylor’s ladies. They patiently waited out in the hall for their turn but when they were allowed in, practically knocked each other over. They giggled and sighed all over Taylor!

The group hug turned into a prayer circle and I almost died from the wonderful love that they share!

It’s show time! I love how excited Josh was to see his bride walk down the aisle, even though they’d already had their First Look!

After the officiant pronounced them husband and wife, before going in for the kiss, they high-fived! SO fun!

Up until around the beginning of the ceremony, the skies were completely overcast and it was like whoa windy. The temperature in late November is always hit or miss – it started off in the low 50’s. On the way to every wedding, I pray to God for a few things – such as focus, energy, etc – but also for a few selfish things – such as cooperative family members and amazing light for bride and groom portraits. God doesn’t always gives me what I ask for, sometimes I need to be pushed into becoming a better photographer by tough situations, but today He definitely delivered! The skies opened up, the wind died down, and the temperature reached an unbelievable 63 degrees! JUST in time for the outdoor portraits with Taylor & Josh!

Gosh, I could NOT love this couple more!

A funny thing happened after their portraits… on the way to the reception, they all but totally ran out of gas! They made a quick turn off the highway to fill up before we headed on. We still had about 20 minutes to drive so it was a smart split second decision! They were such troopers when I asked for a smile and a thumbs up picture lol
