Chic Bride, Featured

At the beginning of this wedding season I made a set of goals for myself as a photographer and a set for my business. One of the goals that was included in both sets was to get published. Engagement session or wedding, I didn’t care. Now while being featured is not exactly the same as being published, it’s pretty darn close and since I haven’t put any weddings out there yet, I’ll take it! You can bet I was still very very excited to received the email!

Kacey & Hunter’s La Center Wedding

Kacey and Hunter’s wedding was one I had been looking forward to all summer and then, when it finally came, it was over way too soon. I bet you didn’t know that 10 hours could go by so fast, huh? It was a beautiful August day, not too hot, and thank God it wasn’t raining! The girls got ready at Walker Hall before heading to the La Center First Baptist Church for pictures and, of course, the ceremony! Both Kacey and Hunter apologized ahead of time for their wedding party, saying they could be a little rowdy, but I assured them, no apology was necessary. And I still stand by that! I actually told Kacey after I shot the groomsmen’s portraits how great they were, and I wasn’t sugar coating it. The couple, the wedding party, the family, and the friends; everyone made the day so memorable. With so many people that loved them surrounding them on their special day, Kacey and Hunter will continue to be blessed throughout their entire marriage. I’m sure of it.

Jessica & Austin’s Engagement Session, part 2

Because one session with this adorable wasn’t enough! Our first shoot was lacking sunlight and what kind of portrait requires sunlight? Sunset portraits! Something Jessica pretty much had her heart set on. We chose a day that wasn’t completely overcast, in fact there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, and met back up at Lighthouse Landing to do a few more creative pictures. I am so glad we did!

Jessica & Austin’s Engagement Session, part 1

Jessica and Austin first sought me out with the general inquiry: how much did I charge for a wedding, was I available on their date, etc. I was available at the time but not two days later another couple inquired about that same date. Even though Jessica and Austin hadn’t booked that date with me, they did ask first so I emailed them back and updated them. Pretty much, if they were still interested I would tell the other couple that I wasn’t available. Austin replied only an hour later with a Yes they want to book me and followed it up with something that really made me love my job and my amazing couples: “Thanks for checking with us! We don’t want to lose you! You are by far Jessica’s favorite and I’d be in big trouble if I messed this up.”

I am so lucky to be able to work with people who want to work with me just as much as I do them!

Hannah & Lee’s Engagement Session

Hannah and Lee met, get this, online! Now, they are not the first people I’ve met to have met their signification other online. In fact, they say 1 in 5 married couples met online! This will be, however, the first wedding I’ve shot whose couple met online so this is exciting for me. Hannah is from the Paducah are but Lee is from Texas. The story gets better when you learn that after chatting online for a time, Lee packed up and moved all the way to Western Kentucky to be with Hannah. So sweet!

When I asked what they wanted to remember about the two of them right at this moment they answered “Our youth, how much we love each other, and how happy we are right now.”
