RACHAEL HOUSER » photography for couples & families

1. He’s sitting in front of the TV. What’s on the screen?
Lately it’s been one XBox game or another. Sometimes I see some football.

2. You’re out to eat; what kind of dressing does he get on his salad?
He doesn’t eat salad unless I make him. That only happens when I’m cooking dinner and then he’ll choose Ranch.

3. What’s one food he doesn’t like?
Cream cheese. Sometimes, though, he doesn’t even know he’s eating it. I’m a sneaky cook like that.

4. You go out to the bar. What does he order?
When I go out to the bar he’s not there. He doesn’t show up until I call him, needing a ride. He doesn’t like to drink. He’s yet to find a reason to drink. Yea, he’s great like that. Actually, that makes me look worse. Hmmm.

5. Where did he go to high school?
Lone Oak, KY. Same as me. Go ahead and make a face. We are high school sweethearts.

6. What size shoe does he wear?
10 1/2, sometimes 11. Depends on the shoe, really.

7. If he were to collect anything, what would it be?
When he was young his mom got him into collecting miniatures. Now? He would probably collect anything having to do with Tiger Woods.

8. What is his favorite type of sandwich?
Turkey breast on wheat bread with enough mayo to feed a third world country. I will be a widow by 70.

9. What would he eat every day if he could?
Chicken cordon blue. For someone so picky and pretty much raised on mac n cheese you’d think he would turn up his nose at this.

10. What is his favorite cereal?
My cereal, which changes all the time. I swear. He only wants it because it’s not for him.

11. What would he never wear?
Four years ago it would have been anything pink and hot men sweaters. I think I’ve got him whipped. Teehee.

12. What is his favorite sports team?
Neil would argue that Tiger Woods is a team all on his own, but since he’s not it would be the St. Louis Cardinals and Kentucky’s Wildcats.

13. Who will he vote for?
McCain. I don’t know if he would be “my guy” much longer if he voted otherwise. Ok, that’s a joke. Thankfully, we’ll never find out.

14. Who is his best friend?
I’d say myself but he talks to Bryan over the phone more than he’s ever talked to me.

15. What is something you do that he wishes you wouldn’t do?
He doesn’t like it when I tell Aly to tell him to do things. “Aly, tell daddy to get your momma some milk.” And more so, he hates it when I use Aly’s voice to tell him to do said things. Aly, via me, “Daddy, get momma some milk, NOW!” Only a few know what I’m talking about. Aly is our dog btw.

16. How many states has he lived in?
The one and only, Kentucky.

17. What is his heritage?
German, as far as I know. I’m sure there’s more in there but I’ve never asked.

18. You bake him a cake for his birthday; what kind of cake?
Confetti cake! That’s confetti cake mix with rainbow chip icing. I’m baking him one tonight.

19. Did he play sports in high school?
Did he ever! Basketball every year, soccer for three years, track for two years, and football one year.

20. What could he spend hours doing?
Golfing and surfing the internet for very stupid videos. The latter he does about two hours everyday.

Ok, this picture doesn’t him more justice:

Happy Birthday baby!

Aw, Happy Birthday, ChaNeil Number Five! I miss my brother. And you and the doggies. I’ll be happy when this week is over so I can go back to chilling with you at night.

Love the first picture by the way. RAWR. Also, I think that you lied about what he watches on TV, because every time I have been over there it’s been Gilmore Girls. OOPS, should I not have announced that to the entire Internet world? Sorry, Neil.

And for the record, I love it when Aly tells Daddy to go get Momma some milk. And because of ya’ll’s strange influence, I’ve started talking to Chancey like he is my child. “OH Mama didn’t mean to run you into that wall, baby.” (A: for those of you who don’t know Chancey is my CAR not my child or pet and B: SHUT UP about scrapping walls this weekend, driving is hard.)

Love love.

Happy birthday Neil!
Cute little survey thing, I’m totz stealing it because Richard says I never blog about him.

I came up with something for my little box. Where do you want me to send it?

admin -

@Emma He’s finished Gilmore girls so that’s not on the TV anymore. But you’re right, for a while there that’s all he did. Watch Gilmore girls. It’s not something to be ashamed of either!

@robyn Neil never reads my blog so I don’t get any complaints from him but I do think he should be mentioned more in my blog. Steal away. And you can send your box content to rachie@rachieann.com. Thanks hun!

A lot about Richard and a little about me too. : robyn.rachieann.com -

I am thankful…

For the husband who is on the sofa being a couch potato because he is home with me and not out at the bars.

For the taxes that I pay, because it means that I am employed.

For the mess to clean after a party, because it means that I have been surrounded by friends.

For the clothes that fit a little too snug, because it means I have enough to eat.

For my shadow that watches me work, because it means I am out in the sunshine.

For a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, and gutters that need fixing, because it means I have a home.

For all the complaining I hear about the government, because it means that we have freedom of speech.

For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot, because it means I am capable of walking and that I have been blessed with transportation.

For my huge heating bill, because it means I am warm.

For the lady behind me in church that sings off key, because it means that I can hear.

For the pile of laundry and ironing, because it means I have clothes to wear.

For weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day, because it means I have been capable of working hard.

For the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours, because it means that I am alive.

Did you write this? It’s beautiful and really heartfelt.

I lied. (About probably not being able to blog until this weekend.) : Emmy Suh -

Dear 18 year old me,

You are 18 now. And you look amazing. You owe it to all those years dancing and in guard. You don’t but you should have joined the color guard in college. You will regret it later. You and Neil are going strong and you will continue to grow together. Your friends don’t like you spending as much time with him as you do but you will be happy in the end. You marry this man. You don’t have to wait as long as you thought you would either. And it’s the.best.wedding.ever! You may think you know what you want to do with your life but you’re wrong. You still might be wrong by the time you write this to yourself. Don’t give up though. Your parents will stick by you through all your changes in majors. Your friends, however, will leave you for a while and you will be sad. It’s okay because you find a true best friend AND you will get some old friends back and better than ever! Even though you do mess up a little, your life is going to be pretty sweet. Don’t change a thing.

Love, 22 year old me

I think I might steal this idea from you! Even though it was only 2 years ago, a lot has changed!

Stephanie -

Aw! I really like this idea, a lot… I might steal it too. I was in guard in high school. I miss it. :( I’m actually trying to find a flag online.. just to play with in the backyard (like a total nerd, I KNOW.) .. hehe.

Emma -

I wrote mine as a reply to Amanda’s blog, but might do a better, longer one on my site once I’m back from all my trips.

I’m so glad you’re in my life.

Erin -

That was a good idea Rachie! The losing your friends thing made me sad but I think we are now better friends than ever! I realize that I made a huge mistake when I almost lost one of my best friends but now we both know I can’t live without my Rachie! Love you darling!

Jess -

Funny that you wrote this today because I was just reading my journal from when I was 17 years old and I am embarrassed about how dumb I was. I wish I could could back and just shake myself and say “You are being an idiot! You will regret this stuff later!” I needed my 22 yr old self to slap my 17 yr old self in the face.

Jess -

I wasn’t exactly sure what method you wanted me to use in order to answer your question, so I just replied via comment on my blog.

Meggan -

I totally want to do this now! What an awesome post.
