Midway pictures

I told you I’d take and post pictures of the before, during, and after of our move in our house in Madisonville. Well, the house is almost done being renovated and I didn’t get a chance to take any pictures of the before.

Sorry ’bout that.

BUT I did swing by there today to check on the progress – they said they were finishing up today, they promised – and it only lacks a few things from being complete. I went ahead and took some pictures, kind of like a sneak peak, just to hold you over until we move all our stuff into its respectable place. It could take a week or more since nursing school has started.

Anyway, without further ado, I give you our house, after renovations, before we move in.

Our beautiful kitchen cabinets and sink and faucet and GRANITE counter tops and backsplash!

Another side of the kitchen. Our fridge isn’t big but the kitchen’s a little small.

The fireplace in the living room.

Do you see all the charming details? This is why I chose this house! High ceilings, molding around everything, those little windows above the doors (whatever they’re called).

This is the front mud room, or my office! The built-ins are just perfect and I just love all the natural light from all the windows!

This is a sneak peak of the second bathroom. I never thought I’d love track lighting, but I do!

Check out the details on these cabinets in the second bathroom! Gorgeous trim work!

Crazy tall ceilings with crazy tall windows. This is our master bedroom.

Another view of the master bedroom. Another fireplace!

And last but definitely not least, the master closet. This picture doesn’t do it justice.

So there you go! I obviously left out a few rooms but you get the gist. I can’t wait to get everything moved around and decorated. I will for sure take more pictures then!

Oh, it looks wonderful already, Rachie! I especially love the mud room/your office because of the windows and the colors.

Can’t wait to see more! <3

VEDA – A Place I Love

Saturday was VEDA Day 7 and the topic was “Show or tell us about a place you love”. It’s very fitting because we’re moving in 3 days! I decided to should you all the video(s) vlog I made today since I know not everyone is participating in VEDA.

Sorry for it being in 4 parts. Apparently iPhone 4 videos are in HD and to upload them to youtube I had to split them up. Anyway, it was about time I show you a video tour of the house! I promise to get a video tour of the new house up before we’ve lived there for 8 months already.

Interested in seeing my other vlogs for VEDA? Check out my YouTube channel!

I love all the recent videos for VETA that you’ve posted. It’s always fun to hear the voice of someone who you’ve only known through their “writing voice”, if that makes sense? :)

And of course the Lake House is absolutely fabulous! You’re right about the back porch, I’m pretty sure that would be my favorite spot as well. And everything is so pretty and tasteful. Heh. Your parents did a great job with it! I can imagine you’re sad to leave… But I’m looking forward to a tour of the new house! :) I love seeing people’s homes! (Not in a creepy way, though. Ha. I just love American homes, period, I think.)

And I’m so glad Aly is doing better! I’ll keep y’all in my thoughts but I really do believe in acupuncture so… I hope the treatment will make her all better soon. <3

I agree w Kat – I always like hearing people’s “real” voice because it usually does *not* match up to what I thought it would! Your voice is even sweeter and more southern than I would have imagined! Cute tour, can’t wait to see/hear about the new place!

Pam - August 10, 2010 - 12:51 pm

For some reason Part III isn’t working for me…:( I’ll try again later. But it was nice to see your house (old one that is) and can’t wait to see what the new one looks like. Happy moving!!

emmysuh - August 11, 2010 - 11:53 am

Eee, can’t watch these at work, but I know what your voice sounds like in real life and I’ve been to the lake house so I guess I’m not missing out on anything I didn’t already know, ha.

Ruth & Jerry – married at 83

Now if doesn’t make you smile, I don’t know what will!

This wedding was featured in Southern Weddings magazine and I find it to be so adorable!

From Andy, the grandson and photographer:

“When I head that my grandmother was going to get married after just a few months of meeting Jerry, all of us were a bit worried, but what can you really do?  She’s happier than ever before and there’s no way any of us were going to stand in the way of that.  It’s clear that they are in love and I’m proud of them for doing it right, even in their 80′s.

She then said that they wanted to have a tiny ceremony, which ended up being on Tuesday at the church they both went to at some point in their life.  I basically gave her no choice but told her I had to be at their wedding.  After I showed her the photographs, she was thrilled that I was there to witness and record the event.  Both of our families are very grateful for that.

My girlfriend and I arrived at the chapel about 45 minutes prior to the ceremony.  We greeted Ruth and Jerry, who were sitting in the pew with the rings, flowers, and each other.  We all waited for the pastor to arrive, and then an intimate wedding took place with just the five of us in the room.

I asked Jerry to hold the rings in the palm of his hand.  I was amazed at how steady he could hold them, despite being nervous before the wedding.  It was actually cute to see the both of them nervous!  It’s comforting to know that you can be in love at any age.

After the ceremony, it was cute to watch Jerry carefully assist his new bride outside of the chapel, where I had them stand for just a few images before they drove off in his Buick.”

This brought tears to my eyes! So sweet!

mel - August 6, 2010 - 10:12 pm

That’s ridiculously adorable, I must say. :)

Keep Aly in your thoughts

Aly has an inflamed disc in her vertebra and therefore doesn’t have control of her hind quarters. It’s very common in dachshunds but that doesn’t mean it sucks any less. She’s been on steroids for a day and last time this happened (the first time) in March she responded well to the treatment and was better within 3 days. This time instead of improving, she was worse when we woke up this morning. We took her to the vet again and he started an acupuncture procedure that has been known to work when steroids don’t. Anyway, it’s a waiting game now. We’ll know more after 24 hours. If she’s improved, yes! It’s working.

I’ve been hysterical all morning. Please please be praying and thinking of Aly.

This is awful. I’m so sorry. :(
I’ll keep Aly and you guys in my thoughts.
<3

Pam - August 5, 2010 - 1:09 pm

Oh hon. I’m sorry you have to go through this. I feel like crying. I have been there before with a pet and vertebra troubles. I’ll pray for you both.

Tamela - August 5, 2010 - 1:54 pm

She’s in my prayers. I hate it when doggies are hurt. Echo threw a disc in his next about a year ago. I understand how emotional you can get. I cried forever.

mel - August 5, 2010 - 5:48 pm

you know I’m praying for her lots. Wish I ould drive down and be with you. I know how hard this is.
I posted a wyd post this afternoon asking for thoughts and prayers.

steph anne - August 5, 2010 - 7:39 pm

I’m definitely thinking of you & Aly!! I hope she’ll get through this. This same thing happened to my parents’ dog a few months ago. She’s so much better now. Keep us updated!

emmysuh - August 5, 2010 - 9:22 pm

Hope she gets better! <3
