2015 was a whirlwind of life. Business was good – no, great – and I couldn’t be more appreciative of my amazing couples! I don’t usually put a limit to how many weddings I book but because I became a mom last year, I knew I couldn’t (nor did I want to) focus on business as much in 2015.
At the beginning of booking season for the 2015 wedding season I set myself a goal of at least 15, no more than 22 weddings. As Graeme’s birth grew closer, I found myself limiting myself even more. I knew I needed to shoot this many weddings to make a living but I didn’t want to shoot any more than necessary. When I booked my 19th wedding I sat back and said, That’s it. That’s enough. Possibly more than enough but I managed because: My couples. Again, I will say it – they are amazing! And understanding and patient. They let me be their wedding photographer, their friend, and a new mom.
People tell you, but you never realize until it happens… You can’t comprehend the time and energy and heart that it takes to be a mom. That can also be said about being a creative business owner. Both can be all consuming and my beloved couples might not understand that but they respect that.
Thank you thank you thank you!!!
