Riley & Caleb

Windy Spring Kentucky Lake Engagement Session

Riley & Caleb met on Facebook around Christmas in 2018 and have been inseparable ever since. They are not the first couple I’ve worked with who met online, nor will they be the last. Social media has its failings for sure but where would be without it? Especially during this pandemic? I for one am thankful for social media for many reasons, always have been, but today I’m thankful for it bringing these two souls, who are perfect for one another, together.

We were all looking forward to shooting this session but when Riley tells me a few days before that she’s a little worried about the forecast I started paying attention to it. First it said rain, then no rain but wind. Lots and lots of wind. It never occurred to me that it would be even slightly an issue because I’d not really shot in high winds before. We stayed the course and met up Saturday afternoon at the lake area. The light was perfect, the temp was lovely, but when I say that 20+ mph wind was the worst condition I’ve ever shot in, I’m not exaggerating. And I’ve shot weddings in the rain!

Riley’s hair was wiping all around; the wind was coming from every direction – we couldn’t find a break from it for more than 15 seconds but they were such troupers! We shot the entire 2 hours and yea, we complained a tad, but we left with beautiful images and now I cannot wait for their June wedding! Only, I am praying we don’t have wind (or rain)!
