Incase you couldn’t tell from this recent blog post, my darling baby boy turned One Year Old a week ago! Is birthday party was the following afternoon at my parents’ house which happens to be the perfect place to host anything with a guest list under 100 in my opinion!
So allow me to preface this blog post by saying, all things considered, I’m very pleased with how Graeme’s First Birthday Party turned out. The main “thing” that should be considered: Just hours before his party started, I was holed up in the ER due to a bulged disc in my lower back that had me in excruciating pain. I couldn’t sit, lay, stand, or walk. Basically nothing I did gave me relief. Thanks to pain meds, steroids, physical therapy, and plenty of rest (for my back) this entire week, I am doing MUCH better.
We chose an Octonaut theme for his party for two simple reasons: 1) Graeme loves the theme song and kind of watches the rest of it, and 2) it doesn’t drive me crazy to have it playing in the background in the house! It didn’t hurt that Pinterest had some really cute ideas for an Octonaut birthday party!
HUGE thanks to my mom, niece, and sister-in-law for decorating and cooking and picture taking since I was unavailable and incapable of doing any of those tasks that day. And now, the pictures!
I realized, last minute, that I didn’t have a bib for him to wear on his birthday! Aunt Amy (Neil’s sister) to the rescue! She made one for him overnight!
My mom not only hosted the party, but she took care of all decorations for me, and did most of the cooking. But before that, she made all three cakes and two dozen cupcakes from scratch and decorated them like she use to do when I was little for my birthdays. It was so nice to see her handy work again! And they were yummy too!!!
All the food was themed! We had Goldfish crackers and hotdogs…
spinach and artichoke dip…
shells & cheese…
sub sandwiches…
shrimp cocktail…
and cucumber slices and carrot sticks.
Graeme spent a lot of time in his walker. Man he loves this thing! Maybe too much? He still cares nothing for walking, even though he’s done it several times without knowing.
He really enjoyed chasing and being chased by his cousins!
Cake smash time! He had no idea what he was in for! And yes, that means he’s never had cake or pie or anything resembling dessert!
First, he poked its eye out!
Then he actually smashed it…
Then he tasted it…
He was saying Mmmmmm the whole time!
Yea, I think he decided he liked it!
Then cousin Khloe wanted to feed him!!!
Present time! We tired to get Graeme interested in his presents but he was more entertained with his cousins opening them for him.
That face!!! One whole year of awesome is right! Happy birthday my little man!
