A Manea’s Vineyard Wedding in Paducah Kentucky
She crinkles her nose and gives him a cheesy grin. He squeezes his eyes shut tight as if he can hardly take in all that she is. This is how they looked at each other multiple times a day and I had so much fun capturing it! Just Makena & Joel being together… it’s little moments like that that remind me why I love what I do and why so many of their loved ones were all gathered together this past Saturday – to celebrate Makena & Joel’s love and the next journey in their relationship. Yay marriage!
We stole all of those moments we could during their wedding day too because, out of nowhere, a rain storm came up about two hours before their outdoor ceremony started. It sprinkled a few minutes before their first look, stopped just for us to run outside at their schedule first look time and the rain started in again right as we were finishing up their portraits. All I can say is thank goodness for first looks! Due to the rain, we had to push most bridal party portraits and all family formals to between the ceremony and the reception and during that time, I had to break out my flash because we ran out of light completely! Had Makena & Joel chosen to not see each other before their the ceremony, we would have run out of light during their bride & groom portraits and all family formals would have had to be taken inside their reception area, which is lovely but not suited for portraits. As it was, we didn’t get as many bride & groom portraits as I would have liked but what we did get I’m in love with!
Speaking of rain right before the ceremony – it was a last minute call to hold out and wait and see if the rain would indeed stop in time for us to dry everything in time. God surely blessed us because the rain stopped, the clouds parted, the sun poured through and for over 20 minutes, there sat in the sky a gorgeous rainbow, right behind their alter! Most guests were already in attendance at that point and therefore got to enjoy that beautiful sight! It was so important to Makena that the ceremony takes place outside, with the vineyard in the background, and thanks to literally everyone present at that time, we made that happen. But what’s more is that, no matter where it happened, rain or shine, Makena & Joel are married…. Yay Marriage!
