The day of Robert & Rachel’s wedding was exciting for me for two reasons: the first reason should be obvious… it was Robert & Rachel’s wedding day! but it was also my first time mentoring! I’ve second shot on many occasions and in all honesty, I actually love to second shoot for other photographers. Don’t get me wrong, I’d much rather be shooting primary (instead of second), however, there are a ton of pros to not being the one in charge lol… it’s a nice break sometimes… I get to spend more energy on taking pictures 😉

We arrived at Wrangler’s Campground (a horse campground… how cool?!?) about 30 mins before we needed to start shooting, just to get the lay of the land. We met with Rachel and her girls in the cabin where they were getting ready. Also in the cabin, the wedding cake! Haha! Rachel actually made her own cake and got up that morning around 4am to ice it. Crazy girl! But boy did it taste delicious… I guess it was worth it 😉 Rachel & Robert opted to do a First Look so we were able to do all pictures before the ceremony, minus their portraits because they wanted to have the best light, which was after the ceremony. Also, it allowed their family to be hosts at the reception right away! And Robert & Rachel’s portraits, beautiful! The light was sooo yummy, and it only took about 20 minutes! It was definitely a win-win for everyone involved!
