Samantha & Zach are proud of the life they’ve built very in their first year of marriage – and they should be! Their lovely home and the property it sits on was the perfect setting for their anniversary portraits. We even broke out the top tier of their wedding cake to see if it really was just as good, if not better, than it was a year ago! It was!
In honor of their One Year Anniversary, I asked Samantha if she would write up a little reflection on her and Zach’s first year as a married couple so here she goes…!
The first year of marriage for Zach and I could be described in many different ways: adventurous, tearful, and full of love. Even though we dated a little over five years, moving in with him on our wedding night was the start too many new first. We learned many new things about each other since living together that were not foreseen while dating. Over the past year we have had several big accomplishments and even though it may have looked easy from others perspectives, it wasn’t. We have learned to give-and-take because if you don’t, nothing will work. Zach has learned that I do not like to do anything, housework wise, the day after a 12-hour midnight shift. And I have learned that Zach can twist any gun purchase he makes around to where I needed the gun haha! Marriage is about moving forward as one, putting yourself first, and making decisions to interest you both. Zach and I are working at this marriage thing one day at a time. As our one-year anniversary grows near, I can’t help but look back and smile at all that we’ve been through and know God was always on our side. Good or bad, at the end of the day I get to crawl into bed with my best friend for the rest of my life.
