Yes, another post about the flooding

May 3, 2011

I’m sorry for those of you who read me every single day. I know I’ve been talking about this flood since, well, it started. I do blog for my friends and family but in this case, I’m blogging for myself. In the years to come I want to be able to come back to these flood posts, just like I do sometimes with my old journals.

So again, on with today’s pictures:

{this is how close the water is to the back porch steps}

{this is how close it is normally. and if you were wondering, the ramp is on rollers and has a flotation device}

{notice that the “Boundary” sign to the left of the far left tree is completely under water now. yesterday it still showing a bit.}

{our neighbor’s boat, which is parked in our yard so he can come and go to and from his house, does not have a pump system so all the rain that has been collecting BECAUSE IT WILL NEVER STOP RAINING so Neil has to bail it out every few hours to keep it from sinking}

Oh and what do you know, it’s stopped raining. And it’s sunny! Let’s see how long this lasts.

In other news, this morning I took not one but two nursing finals. I got a 98% on the second but won’t find out my grade for the second exam until this afternoon. And really, I’m not sure if I want to know. Of course, I will have to find out because whether I continue on with the program next fall depends on that final exam grade.  Oy. I hate how weighted these finals are compared to our regular exams. It can make you or break you, and that’s an awful feeling.

    THAT IS TOO MUCH RAIN WATER TO BE SITTING ON MY BELOVED KENTUCKY! Or anywhere, for that matter. Ugh. I talked to my host family and their neighbors today and all they usually have is a tiny little creek that runs along down the hill from them so you would normally think there is no way that would swell up all the way to their house BUT I BET YOU CAN GUESS WHAT HAPPENED. :O Also, even if you’re not near creeks or lakes, they said rain has just been collecting EVERYWHERE.

    All that flooding: really not good.

    Your exam grade on the other hand: AWESOME! Good for you! 🙂

    I completely understand the nursing exam situation. Ours are at least 25% of our grade… I barely scraped by this semester!

    Praying for the flooding, I know it can be very scary.
