The day started off perfectly. Neil and I arrived at Shelley’s aunt’s house, where the reception was to be held and also where she and her girls were getting ready. Sometimes I’m waiting on hair and makeup to be completed so I always plan to start off photographing bridal details but she and her girls were already ready so there was no delay in our timeline! Once I finished photographing her details in the library, the best lit room in the whole house, I moved right into getting Shelley into her dress while Neil headed to the church where the guys were getting ready. We must have been so involved in our task at hand that we failed to notice the gloomy cloud gathering over us. As we headed outside to begin bridal portraits and Shelley’s portraits with her bridesmaids we were greeted with light rain. They say it’s good luck for it to rain on your wedding day – well, Shelley & Mark now have luck for all days because three shots later that light rain quickly turned into a downpour and we were forced inside. I called to touch base with Neil, who reported that they too just rushed inside after only a few shots of Mark and his groomsmen. To make the most of our time together, although not ideal, I moved Shelley into the well lit library and continued on with her bridal portraits.
Most grooms don’t love having their picture taken – I’m use to that – but when Morgan told me she HATED it? That was a first for me! Most brides at the very least are neutral to it so imagine my surprise when they both rocked out their engagement session and then a couple weeks […]
It’s been a while since I photographed a Fresh Baby session! Baby Louis was the perfect little gentleman the whole time, as those 12 hour old babies tend to be!, and mom, dad, and big brother relaxed in the presence of this tiny new family member. And I basked in the glory of fresh baby […]
After being set up by friends to go to prom together, Rebecca & Frank have been inseparable! They do everything together: nursing school, hunt, fish, and spend time with friends and family on the lake. In fact, Frank proposed at the lake and that’s the only thing they were choosy about when it came to […]
I immediately connected with soon to be parents Anna & Zach when we met for their engagement session at Noble Park in Paducah. Like, I feel like we are the exact same parent? I’ve always enjoyed chatting about pretty much all things babies and parenting but since having Graeme I can’t help myself! I’m always […]
Flash Back Friday! And no, it’s not going to become a theme on the blog but for today’s post, it’s very appropriate. So, flash back to the very first collaboration/styled shoot I ever did. It took place over a year ago and I remember it so well because I was gigantically pregnant. Erin Hendley of […]
